The Short Answer
Locked & Loaded (v0.8) is the biggest update in Bodycam's Early Access run. It released on September 2, 2026 and adds a full loadout and weapon customization system with around 400 attachments, six new or returning weapons, drones and RC cars, a knife system, new grenade types, a new map (Trenches), and a rebuilt audio engine. It also retires Bodybomb in favor of Wingman 2v2 and switches progression to Reissad Points. A few things were left out on purpose: Zombies, the Party System, two maps, and the real-money shop. Reissad calls it "a major step toward Bodycam 1.0."
Loadouts and Attachments
The headline system is a new loadout and weapon customization flow. Reissad lists around 400 attachments across all weapons, with real gameplay effects on ADS speed, switch speed, reload speed, horizontal and vertical recoil, spread, visual kick, and ammo capacity.
Attachments are grouped into categories: barrels (short and long), muzzles (suppressors, flash hiders, compensators), upper barrel, side rail, optic mounts, optics (iron sights, close, medium and long range, plus canted optics), magazines, triggers, grips, stocks (light and heavy), ammo types, and stickers. Each weapon has its own compatibility rules, and attachments with no gameplay effect are labeled as cosmetic.
Optics got their own overhaul: Bodycam now has true picture-in-picture magnified scopes for the first time, canted optics with a button to switch between your main and canted sight, and reworked reticles and scope glass.
New Weapons
Six weapons were added or brought back:
- BK-101 shotgun
- Rivington sniper rifle
- SG9-X machine pistol
- Veaper machine pistol
- CR-75 pistol
- SG5-X machine pistol (reintroduced)
Every existing weapon and model was also reworked for more realism and per-part customization, with a full first-person animation pass: new inspect and magazine-check animations, regrips, and a "stressed" animation layer so weapon handling reacts to combat intensity.
Drones, RC Cars, Knives and Grenades
Drones and RC cars arrive as gameplay tools for scouting, pressure and information. Both have team LED identification and a deployment cooldown, with an extra cooldown when you change loadout to prevent abuse. FPV drones currently work with standard Xbox and PlayStation controllers; dedicated radio-controller support is in development with Tryp FPV.
Melee is now fully implemented: knives are selectable in the loadout and can be thrown. Grenades gained three new types - flash, sticky and impact - plus a damage and range rebalance.
Trenches: The New Map
Trenches mixes close-quarters fighting inside a trench network with long-range engagements across the open ground around it. Reissad's description includes flooded and dry trenches, underground galleries and tunnels, forest areas, ruined compounds, observation posts, and a central church. Hardpoint was added to Trenches and CQB.
The old dynamic time-of-day system was replaced by weather and lighting scenarios picked at match start and each round, which Reissad says gives a significant performance gain.
Wingman Replaces Bodybomb
Bodybomb is gone. Wingman 2v2 is now the default competitive mode, and ranks and ELO are only earned in Wingman. At launch Wingman is solo-queue only, matchmaking is not yet skill-based, rewards are fixed, and you cannot join a match in progress. Reissad says duo queue will come "asap."
Patch #1 also raised score limits: Team Deathmatch from 50 to 75 kills, and Deathmatch from 30 to 40.
Progression: Reissad Points
You now start with a base weapon and unlock other weapons and attachments with Reissad Points (RP), earned by playing. Patch #2 (September 4) increased RP gain by mode:
- Gun Game: +25%
- Team Deathmatch: +50%
- Deathmatch: +50%
- Hardpoint: +75%
- Wingman: +100%
- Versus: +100%
Reissad has said plainly that "progression is currently too slow" and that it is rebalancing prices.
Audio, Hub and Host Migration
Audio was overhauled across the whole game: a new sound propagation system, shockwaves that travel through corridors and stairwells, better vertical audio so you can tell when an enemy is above or below you, and bullet whiz and crack when shots pass close. Voice chat was rebuilt on Epic Online Services.
The main menu is now an explorable Lobby with a shooting range for testing loadouts, and the interface was rebuilt around an in-game tablet, with a full-screen option for accessibility.
A new host migration system means that when the host leaves, another player takes over and the match tries to resume from its last known state, instead of the whole lobby disconnecting. Bodycam's multiplayer is peer to peer, so connection quality depends on the players in the match.
What Was Left Out at Launch
These were Reissad's notes for the September 2 release. Some may have changed in later patches.
- Zombies was disabled. Reissad plans to bring it back for Halloween, "potentially with new content."
- The Party System was held back as not stable enough. At launch, Quick Play and the Server Browser were solo-only; to play with friends, you created a game in the Custom tab or joined the same server.
- Oil Rig and Tumblewood were not part of the update; Reissad says it has plans for both.
- The real-money shop was disabled and will return later. Skins already bought were kept.
- Language support was disabled at launch.
- Anti-cheat was described as "well underway" and was not rushed into this update.
