Know Your Exit Points Before You Enter
Every Marathon map has multiple extraction zones, but not all are created equal for ranked play. High-traffic extractions like the main Outpost dock are Holotag magnets — avoid unless your squad can control the area. Scout secondary extractions during your approach phase.
Shell-Specific Extraction Strategy
Thief excels at solo extractions with Light Carry passive reducing loot penalties and drone reconnaissance. Assassin can Phase Shift past extraction campers but risks losing valuable Holotags if caught. Destroyer and Triage should never extract alone — their squad-focused abilities mean nothing in solo escapes.
The 60-Second Rule
Never camp an extraction for more than 60 seconds in ranked. Other Runners track extraction timers and will converge on your position. If the zone isn't clear within a minute, rotate to your backup extraction. Vandal's Double Jump makes rooftop rotations viable on most maps.
Loot Priority for Safe Extraction
Drop low-value gear before reaching extraction if you're overloaded. Keep Holotags, high-tier weapon mods like Barrel Mod or Chip Mod, and weapons above common rarity. Your extraction score determines rank progression — optimize for Holotag value over gear quantity.
Counter-Extraction Tactics
Recon's Tracker Drone reveals extraction campers before you commit. Deploy it 100 meters out from any extraction zone. If enemies are camping, either eliminate them with squad support or rotate to a different extraction. Never rush a contested extraction in ranked — the rank point loss isn't worth the risk.
Emergency Extraction Protocol
If your health drops below 50 and you're carrying valuable Holotags, prioritize extraction over additional looting. Use consumables liberally during your escape route. A successful low-value extraction beats losing everything to overconfidence.
