WHAT THIS PATCH ACTUALLY CHANGES FOR RANKED
Update 1.1.0.3 is not a balance patch. No shell tuning. No weapon damage adjustments. No Cradle changes. What it is: a bug-fix and economy pass with one change that directly restructures ranked queue behavior — and that change matters more than the rest of the notes combined.
The headline item for competitive play: Solo queue on Ranked is gone. Bungie confirmed it was never intended to function, it was not working as players expected, and it has been fixed. The queue structure reverts to the Season 1 model — crews of all sizes enter the same match. If you were queueing into ranked as a solo and getting lobby compositions shaped by that selection, you were playing on a broken setting. That's over.
The competitive implication is immediate. Mixed-size lobbies are the confirmed ranked environment. Build accordingly.
SHELL TIERS SHIFT ON CONFIRMED LOBBY STRUCTURE
The solo queue removal does not change shell power — it changes the context those shells operate in. Here is what that means right now.
ThiefStealth holds its S-tier solo read, but the caveat sharpens. Thief's S designation was always predicated on solo Holotag hunting and extraction efficiency — Pickpocket Drone for target intel, Grapple Device for repositions, The Finer Things for sustained handling when loaded. In a verified mixed-lobby ranked environment, Thief solo players will encounter full organized squads more consistently. The shell's extraction ceiling does not drop, but the risk ceiling rises. The Hideout core (invisibility while piloting the drone) and Case the Joint (extended X-Ray Visor range) remain the correct core investment for solo Holotag plays — but positioning discipline is now non-negotiable. Do not drone-pilot in the open. Confirm your exit before you engage.
AssassinStealth's A-tier solo read is unchanged in power but now carries more relevant squad-counter upside. Active Camo at 15 seconds, Shroud triggering camouflage on any smoke entry, and Shadow Dive for repositioning — this kit was already designed for mixed-lobby chaos. The Shadow Strike Prestige core (massively increased Utility KnifeMelee damage from invisibility) remains the sharpest single-kill tool in a lobby where you cannot predict whether that target has a squad rotating behind them. Assassin's ranked ceiling goes up when squads are in the room.
VandalCombat sits A/A and nothing in this patch moves that. It remains the cleanest all-conditions shell for players still learning how mixed lobbies play.
WHAT ELSE IS IN THE PATCH — AND WHAT TO IGNORE
The KKV-9SDSMG controller firing bug is fixed. This is a 1200 RPM SMG with 8 base damage — if you were hitting trigger drop on a controller, that is now resolved. Ranked impact is marginal unless you were specifically running KKV builds affected by the glitch.
The MIDA Capstone adjustment — swapping from Cardio Kick to ANTI_VIRUS.EXE for two minutes of anti-virus protection at run start — is an economy and faction progression change. It affects MIDA contract runners, not ranked shell builds directly. Note it, file it, move on.
Compiler Ganglion barter fix, Cryo Archive sponsored kit fix, Night Marsh Reverb spawn correction — none of these reshape your ranked loadout.
THE IMMEDIATE SWAP RECOMMENDATION
Stop treating ranked as a solo-optimized environment. It never was — and now the setting confirms it. If you were running a glass-cannon Thief build designed around thin mixed lobbies with soft squad presence, add survivability. Bionic Leg Upgrades V4LegsSuperior for Agility or Regen V4HeadSuperior for Self-Repair speed are the correct implant adjustments for a squad-heavy ranked environment.
ReconIntel's Early Warning System Prestige core — a confirmed S-tier core that alerts you when a hostile Runner is nearby — becomes more relevant in every match now that squad presence is the baseline assumption, not the exception. If you have been sleeping on Recon as a squad-support ranked option, this patch is the prompt to reconsider.
