What is the best shell for solo play in Marathon?
Vandal and Thief dominate solo - Vandal for its mobility (jump jets, slide-cancel tech) lets you escape bad fights, Thief's Pickpocket Drone passively loots while you stay safe and Grapple Device extracts you from contested zones. Assassin is a strong third pick for mechanically skilled solo players.
How do solo players beat squads in Marathon?
Don't engage 1v3 in open ground - ever. Pick off isolated stragglers, use vertical positioning to break sight lines, and time your extractions when squads are distracted by each other. Information advantage matters more than firepower when you're outnumbered.
Is solo queue viable in Marathon Ranked?
Yes. Solo Ranked is its own queue with separate matchmaking - you'll only face other solos. Solo viability is balanced separately. Vandal and Thief currently top solo leaderboards. Rook is banned from Ranked entirely, so solo Rook play is Casual-only.
