Marathon Update 1.1.5.4: Ordnance Heist and the V85 Nerf

GRID PULSE6

WHAT JUST DROPPED

Patch 1.1.5.4 landed August 18 alongside the Ordnance Heist limited-time event, and it carries more meta weight than the slim patch notes suggest. Two targeted weapon nerfs, a loot economy upgrade in Ranked, and a new multi-run PvPvE chase mode — there is enough here to shift how squads are building and where they are going. Player reaction is not yet available; this patch just dropped and community signal has not had time to form.

The headliner is the V85 Circuit Breaker - Shotgun. Bungie explicitly confirmed their target: unintended one-hit knockdown body shots achievable through the Overclocked Delimiter - Magazine MOD - Prestige Prestige Mod combined with Last Resort - Chip MOD - Enhanced and Reckless Behavior chip pairings. Those damage bonuses are now reduced when paired with the Circuit Breaker specifically. The base weapon is untouched — its volt battery trickle charge uptime and precision damage bonus remain — but the ceiling that was pushing it toward S-tier consideration is gone. The Circuit Breaker stays viable; it just lost the outlier interaction that was making it oppressive in the right hands. I am dropping it from A to B accordingly.

The Outland - Sniper Rifle received a quieter fix: the unintended rate-of-fire increase when paired with Vandal - Combat's Mechanized Holsters core is now corrected. This was a niche interaction, but anyone running Outland on Vandal to exploit that cadence needs to reframe their approach. The Outland itself does not move tiers — it was already sitting at C and the interaction was unintended — but Vandal players who built around it lose a tool.

ORDNANCE HEIST AND THE FIRESTORM

The Ordnance Heist event runs August 18 through September 1 across Perimeter, Dire Marsh, Night Marsh, and Outpost queues. The loop is a multi-run chase: earn UESC Manifests on Perimeter, complete embedded objectives on Dire Marsh to convert key templates into Firestorm Locker keys, then bring three keys to a Firestorm Locker to claim the prize. Other crews are hunting the same locker — the PvP pressure at the end is by design.

The Firestorm itself is the first power weapon in Marathon: a heavily customized Hardline HPR frame with a six-shot magazine, incendiary explosive rounds, a sniper scope, and no reload. It converts to credits on exfil. This is not a permanent carry — it is a run-defining spike of power you spend and cash out. Worth noting: using a Mida - Anarchists or Traxus - Faction Sponsored Kit grants an additional 15 UESC Manifests per exfil, which accelerates the key template grind meaningfully.

New Superior implants and chip mods are available for UESC Manifests in the MIDA and Traxus Armories during the event — Backdraft (increased damage to overheated hostiles), Chain Reaction (killing an overheated hostile causes an explosion that overheats nearby enemies), and Nervous Energy (Cardio Kick-triggered stacking buffs to ADS, reload, and equip speed). These are worth targeting for builds that lean into heat application.

RANKED IMPLICATIONS

The loot economy change is the sleeper impact of this patch: Ranked maps now have increased volume and quality of available loot, with more blue and purple gear in the field. This is not a shell or weapon balance change, but it meaningfully shifts the mid-run power curve. Squads that previously had to fight for gear upgrades mid-match will find the floor raised. That benefits frontline compositions — Destroyer - Combat anchors and Vandal flankers — more than it helps stealth-economy runners who were already extracting through efficiency rather than volume.

For solo climbers, Thief - Stealth's S-tier ranked position becomes even stickier: more gear on the floor means more targets worth Holotag hunting, and Thief's X-Ray Visor and Pickpocket Drone are precisely the tools that convert a target-rich environment into credits and ranking points. The gap between information-rich shells and the rest widens when the map gets louder with contested loot.

The Warped items re-enablement is also live — a quiet economy unlock that had been sitting disabled. Worth checking your Armory access if you have been holding Warped material.
