THE PATCH THAT RESHAPES THE PRECISION RIFLE LANE
Update 1.1.9.2 dropped today alongside the Nightfall Refresh wipe, and it is not a minor housekeeping pass. Bungie has restructured two weapons that define how precision rifles play, cut the Magnum MCPistol down to size, reworked the Biotoxic DisinjectorHybrid's grenade mode, and meaningfully curtailed ReconIntel's passive intelligence dominance. These are identity-level changes, not stat tweaks, and the meta is not the same lobby you logged out of.
The Repeater HPRPrecision Rifle is the headline beneficiary. RPM climbs from 85 to 90. Base magazine expands from 9 to 12 rounds. The two-round reload cycle — previously locked behind its Prestige mod — is now base behavior. Reload speed improves from a punishing 6.84 seconds empty to a manageable 5.2 seconds. Damage falloff start at base range jumps from 37m to 53m, and max-range falloff start moves from 82m to 102m. Aim assist cone grows by roughly 59% at base stat. The initial hipfire error cone shrinks by about 54%, and the final cone by about 47%. This is not the Repeater we had yesterday. Bungie has handed it a genuine long-range identity.
The Hardline PRPrecision Rifle move is deliberately paired with the Repeater change — Bungie's notes are explicit that the two were occupying the same space. The Hardline's falloff start drops from 74m to just 39m at base. It is no longer a long-range tool. In return it gets a tighter ADS error cone, reduced hipfire cone, and far less maximum recoil offset. The Hardline is now a mid-range, high ease-of-use precision rifle — a different tool, not a worse one, but the long-lane players need to find the Repeater instead.
RECON TAKES A STRUCTURAL HIT
Echo Pulse is now a cone, not an omnidirectional sphere. The read is straightforward: a blanket ability that punished teams for simply existing in a radius is different in character from one that requires you to predict where targets are in 3D space and aim the pulse correctly. This is a skill requirement increase, not a damage nerf — but for squad play specifically, where the guaranteed 360-degree ping was nearly free value, the effective output drops. Solo players who are already intentional with their positioning will feel it less. The same patch also lets Echo Pulse stagger non-Runner combatants on first hit and briefly stop them from using combat abilities.
The Interrogation trait change — a two-second delay on the notification received by pinged Recon players — also matters for counter-play. Previously, the pinging player had no reaction window. Now they get two seconds before the target knows they have been spotted. Small in isolation, significant in a ranked context where information timing is everything.
THE MAGNUM, THE DISINJECTOR, AND INVISIBILITY
The Magnum MC takes a base damage cut from 41 to 35. Optimal TTK against 200 HP moves from 0.87s to 1.3s. Shots to kill shift from 3 crits to 2 crits plus 2 body shots. This is a meaningful ceiling reduction on a weapon that was finishing fights too quickly for a mid-range pistol.
The Biotoxic Disinjector gets a genuine buff to its beam mode — damage per tick rises from 13 to 16, which Bungie states makes it the fastest non-shotgun TTK in the game. The grenade launcher mode is redesigned from a three-round auto volley to a semi-auto single-fire launcher; total grenade output per magazine drops significantly, but intentionality and ammo efficiency improve. This is a more playable weapon than yesterday's version.
The invisibility networking fix affects Spectre Shields and any invisible combatant who fires back at an attacker: flickering now triggers at 0.2 seconds post-invisibility rather than 0.9 seconds. Aim assist is restored to the attacker almost immediately if the invisible player returns fire. This is a targeted fix to what felt like broken hit registration in duels, not a change to repositioning or escape invisibility use.
