Fortress Shield: The Squad Tank Choice
Fortress Shield pairs perfectly with Destroyer and Triage shells. The HP regen when active turns you into an anchor point for team fights. Destroyer's 175 base health + Fortress Shield creates a 250+ effective HP pool when positioned correctly. Triage benefits from the sustained presence to keep healing pulses active.
Reactive Shield: Solo Extraction Standard
Thief and Assassin shells need Reactive Shield's moderate damage absorption without movement penalties. Thief's 90 base health means any shield break is potentially fatal — Reactive Shield gives you the buffer to disengage and reposition. Assassin's Phase Shift synergizes well since you can activate stealth before the shield breaks.
Ballistic Shield: The LMG Fortress
Conquest LMG and Retaliator LMG users should run Ballistic Shield for frontal protection while deployed. The movement reduction doesn't matter when you're holding angles. Vandal and Recon shells can use this defensively — Double Jump or spider drone for positioning, then deploy the shield for cover.

Shield deployment generates heat on energy weapons. If you're running V22 Volt Thrower or V00 Zeus RG, factor shield heat into your engagement timing. Reactive Shield has the lowest heat penalty, making it optimal for energy weapon builds.
