CATCHING UP ON SEASON 2
Two weeks of Season 2 patches landed while our patch feed was dark, so this is a deliberate recap, not breaking news. Update 1.1.0 (June 2) reset the game; Update 1.1.0.1 (June 9) cleaned up the edges. Here is what actually moved the meta.
THE RECOVERY CAP CUT
The quiet headline is a stat ceiling. Prime Recovery and Tactical Recovery now raise their ability recharge rate by a maximum of 70 percent, down from 100 percent in Season 1. If your build leaned on near-constant ability uptime, it just got slower - recheck your Cradle allocation before you assume your old rotation still holds.
SENTINEL JOINS THE EIGHT
The new shell is built around area denial. Defender System (Prime) drops a platform that neutralizes incoming explosives and buffs nearby allies' weapon stability and reload speed; Snare Mine (Tactical) is a proximity mine that scatters immobilizing submunitions; Prey Tracker (Trait) gives a forward motion-tracking radar cone; and Castle Doctrine (Passive) speeds ready and reload on SMGs, pistols, and shotguns the more hostiles are near. A defensive anchor, not a duelist.
IMPLANTS, REBUILT
Every implant was reworked into a single fixed perk plus a fixed stat package, with item rarity scaling the total stats from grey to gold. One change theorycrafters should note immediately: Energy Harvester now triggers on tactical activation rather than deactivation, so state-based tacticals like AssassinStealth's Active Camo benefit while they are running. Re-audit your implant slots from scratch - the old logic is gone.
WEAPON SWINGS THAT MATTER
The figures Bungie published: Twin Tap's fire rate jumped from 420 to 600 RPM with damage up from 17 to 22 (alongside a precision-multiplier cut from 1.7 to 1.3 and a compensating ~20 percent reduction to actual fire rate). Magnum MCPistol hits harder - 33 to 41 damage - but slower, 150 down to 138 RPM, precision 2.0 to 1.9. Misriah 2442Shotgun's base fire rate rose from 58 to 72. BRRT's magazine grew from 35 to 45. Copperhead RFSMG and Impact HARAR both shifted from projectile to hitscan - a real consistency upgrade.
THE MOD PASS
Magazines and optics got a sweeping per-rarity rework, including new Reveal Rounds options on several reload magazines. We are not quoting the per-rarity mod numbers yet - those are still being verified against the live game - but expect your mod loadouts to need a fresh look, not a Season 1 copy-paste.
SYSTEMS AND MODES
Duos is now a regular mode on a daily rotating location. Ranked's High Stakes and Low Stakes were merged into a single mode. Streamer Mode arrived, with name-hiding and a configurable matchmaking delay against stream sniping. Dire Marsh (Night) is live as a new zone. Economy and progression loosened across the board - improved standard-contract faction reputation, more Credits on early rank-ups, and Deluxe and Superior Sponsored Kits added to every faction.
THE 1.1.0.1 TAIL
The June 9 hotfix was small by comparison: SentinelCombat and contract fixes, a push-to-talk fix on the prepare screen, tooltip corrections, and slight reductions to Prestige Shield and Prestige Weapon Mod drop rates. Bungie did not publish exact figures for those drop-rate cuts, so neither will we.
WHAT'S NEXT
Ranked returns June 14 with eased progression. We will cover the reopening meta as it lands.
