RELOAD ANIMATION CANCELING
The WSTR Combat ShotgunShotgun's reload system can be manipulated to fire four consecutive shots before entering the full reload cycle. This technique requires precise timing but dramatically increases your burst damage potential in close-quarters ranked encounters. The WSTR normally fires at 194 RPM with 15 damage per pellet, but mastering this reload cancel effectively doubles your immediate damage output.
THE FOUR-SHOT SEQUENCE
Start with a full magazine. Fire your first shot, then immediately begin the reload animation. The key is canceling the reload at the exact moment the shell enters the chamber but before the animation completes. This allows you to fire again while bypassing the normal chamber time. Repeat this process for shots two and three. Your fourth shot must be followed by a complete reload cycle.
OPTIMAL MOD LOADOUTS
Fast MagazineMagazine MODEnhanced reduces reload time significantly, making the cancel windows more forgiving. Tactical Reload MagMagazine MODDeluxe offers even faster reload speeds but requires more precise timing. For the barrel slot, Compact BarrelBarrel MODEnhanced improves handling speed, making the technique smoother. Steady BarrelBarrel MODSuperior increases stability, helping you maintain accuracy during the rapid-fire sequence.
RANKED APPLICATION
This technique shines in Holotag denial situations. When a DestroyerCombat pushes with Thruster active, the four-shot burst can drop their 175 health before they close distance. Pairs exceptionally well with VandalCombat's Combat Flow passive — the kill speed bonus helps you reposition after eliminating the threat. In squad ranked, coordinate with TriageSupport support to ensure you have healing available after aggressive pushes.
PRACTICE AND LIMITATIONS
The timing window is approximately 0.3 seconds after the shell insertion sound. Practice in firing range before attempting in ranked matches. This technique works best within 10 meters — beyond that range, the WSTR's damage falloff makes the four-shot less effective than consistent two-shot bursts with proper spacing.
