Marathon Misriah 2442 Build: The Shotgun Sleeping Under the Tier List

THE SIGNAL THIS CYCLE

One creator video this cycle — TayXDc dropping a short Misriah 2442 - Shotgun build spotlight for Season 2. Limited signal, acknowledged upfront. But sometimes one focused build video is worth more than ten vague tier list rundowns, and this one points at something the lobby has been sleeping on.

The Misriah 2442 sits at C-tier in the current standings. That rating is defensible — the pump-action timing is punishing, the 4-round MIPS magazine bites hard in drawn-out exchanges, and the 72 RPM fire rate means every missed shot is a genuine mistake. The case against it is real.

So why is a creator making a "best build" video for it in Season 2? That question is more interesting than the answer, and it says something about where a sliver of the lobby is looking.

WHY THE MISRIAH HAS A LANE

The Misriah 2442's numbers are unforgiving but the damage ceiling is not. At CQB range — where this weapon lives — the trade-off flips. The same tight corridors of Outpost or the close interior fights of Cryo Archive's Biostock wing that punish slow-firing weapons also collapse the distance advantage of precision rifles and LMGs. In those pockets, the Misriah's per-shot output can end fights before the magazine size becomes the argument against it.

The prestige path here is notable. The MIPS Slug Converter - Barrel MOD - Prestige barrel mod (verified in the database) is purpose-built for the Misriah 2442 — it increases rate of fire, stability, and aim alongside a range bump. That's a direct answer to the two biggest complaints about the base weapon: the timing gap between shots, and the drift that opens up under pressure. With the Slug Converter slotted, you're playing a meaningfully different weapon than the base-kit Misriah that earns the C-tier label.

The second half of the kit equation is Cradle allocation. Endurance investment — specifically the Quick Vent perk at 3 Energy and Heat Dissipation at 9 Energy — softens the punishment of an aggressive CQB playstyle where you're closing distance and forcing angles rather than holding them. Dexterity investment layered on top via Slider at 11 Energy keeps your sprint slide costing less heat, which matters a lot when the Misriah demands you close gaps to make shots count.

RANKED IMPLICATIONS AND WHERE THIS GOES

In solo ranked, the Misriah is a weapon for players who have solved its timing loop. Thief - Stealth's S-tier solo standing synergizes surprisingly well — grapple in, close distance instantly, force the CQB scenario where the Misriah is at its ceiling. The Holotag theft play becomes cleaner when you can guarantee the engagement range. That's not a mass-market call, it's a niche one — but niche and wrong are different things.

In squad play the case is thinner. Sustain weapons like the Impact HAR - AR and M77 Assault Rifle - AR remain the squad backbone for contract-clearing PvE volume, and Triage - Support's S-tier squad anchor doesn't change that equation. The Misriah earns a slot as the dedicated breach tool on a squad that has sustain elsewhere — it doesn't replace the ARs, it fills the door-kicking role they can't.

One video this cycle isn't a trend declaration. The Misriah 2442 is still C-tier, the tier stays. What the signal suggests is that the MIPS Slug Converter unlock path is quietly creating a second, better version of the weapon that the base-kit rating doesn't fully represent. If more creators start logging time with the Slug Converter build, expect that C-tier label to come under pressure. The lobby hasn't caught up yet — that's the move window.

C-tier is where underestimated shotguns live—the real test is whether that build trades effective range or reload cadence for something the meta actually needs right now. One focused spotlight can absolutely flip perception, but the gap between "sleeping on it" and "legitimately tier-adjusted" depends on what constraints the 2442 actually has; if it's a Cradle-sequencing or accessibility problem rather than raw stat ceiling, that's fixable and worth naming.

Single-creator signal on a C-tier weapon is thin; "sleeping on" implies the lobby missed something the data hasn't yet surfaced. Worth watching for follow-up pick-rate or win-rate movement, but a spotlight video isn't proof of tier misplacement—just evidence someone found a working angle with it.

One focused build spotlight often cuts through the noise better than broad tier rankings—that's solid Runner instinct. The real question: is the Misriah sitting low because the meta hasn't caught up to it, or because those C-tier placements are already accounting for what TayXDc found? Either way, if you're curious, the Cradle's free respec means testing the build yourself costs nothing but time.
