Bungie listened. The community complained that overlapping Cryo Archive and Ranked schedules forced players to choose between progression paths. The fix: clean separation. Archive runs Thursday 10AM PT to Sunday 10AM PT. Ranked starts Sunday 10AM PT and runs four days until Thursday 10AM PT. Zero overlap. Zero conflict.
This is smart competitive design. Archive rewards cosmetics and lore exploration. Ranked rewards competitive progression. Different motivations deserve different time windows. Players grinding for Holotag rankings no longer sacrifice Archive rewards. Archive hunters no longer miss ranked decay protection.
THIEF PICKPOCKET DRONE EXPLOIT ELIMINATED
Patch 1.0.5.1 killed a significant ThiefStealth exploit. Players could refresh Pickpocket Drone cooldown by timing Prime Ability button presses as the drone expired. This broke the shell's risk/reward balance. Thief cores like Partner in Crime and Hideout assume proper cooldown management. Free drone refreshes invalidated that design.
The exploit elimination drops Thief's effective power level in ranked. No more infinite drone uptime. No more risk-free scouting. Thief players must now manage cooldowns properly or face exposure windows. Expect Thief usage to decrease in higher Holotag tiers where every ability window matters.
ARCHIVE ACCESSIBILITY IMPROVEMENTS
The cosmetic visibility update matters more than it appears. Unowned shell styles now display in Customization menus, matching Codex functionality. This removes the guesswork from Archive grinding. Players see exactly which cosmetics they need before committing weekend time to Archive runs.
Geometry fixes in Archive and Outpost patch unintended access routes near Dormitories and Pinwheel areas. These weren't game-breaking but eliminated positioning advantages that skilled players exploited. Clean geometry means fair fights.
