THE IMMOVABLE OBJECT
The DestroyerCombat shell has lived in VandalCombat's shadow since Marathon launched. While Vandal pilots zip around with Microjets, Destroyer mains plant their feet and dare the server to move them. Season 2's meta shift toward sustained engagements finally gives this 175 HP tank its moment. The Impact Siphons prestige core transforms incoming damage into shield energy, creating a feedback loop that makes Destroyers nearly unkillable in prolonged fights.
This build revolves around the Conquest LMGLMG paired with Pinpoint BarrelBarrel MODSuperior and Fortress ShieldShield MODSuperior. The engine: absorb damage through your Riot Barricade, convert it to shields via Impact Siphons, then suppress entire teams with 36 rounds of stable automatic fire. Your win condition isn't mobility or burst damage—it's outlasting every other Runner on the map.
CORE COMPONENT BREAKDOWN
Impact Siphons (Prestige, Shell-Exclusive) fundamentally rewrites Destroyer's defensive identity. Incoming damage dealt to your Riot Barricade returns to you as shield energy. This isn't just damage mitigation—it's resource generation. Every bullet your barricade absorbs feeds back into your survivability pool. Combined with Fortress Shield's greatly increased shield durability and HP regen when active, you become a walking fortress that grows stronger under fire.
The Conquest LMG provides the sustained pressure this engine demands. 16 damage per shot at 540 RPM with a 36-round magazine gives you nearly six seconds of continuous fire. Pinpoint Barrel greatly increases stability and range, letting you trade at medium distance where Destroyer's slower movement speed matters least. The weapon's Light Rounds ammo type keeps weight manageable despite the shell's natural bulk.
Fortress Shield synergizes perfectly with Impact Siphons by extending your shield uptime. The greatly increased shield durability means more damage gets converted to energy before your shields break, while the HP regen keeps you topped off between engagements. This mod single-handedly transforms Destroyer from a burst tank into a sustained combat platform.
FACTION INVESTMENT REQUIREMENTS
This build demands significant faction commitment. Impact Siphons requires Destroyer prestige unlock—expect a serious time investment grinding shell-specific challenges. Pinpoint Barrel requires Arachne Rank 12 with 1500 credits plus 5 Biomata Resin. Fortress Shield's unlock requirements aren't listed in current faction data, but expect it to gate behind mid-tier progression.
The Conquest LMG appears to be base game accessible, making it the most approachable component of this loadout. For runners without Arachne access, Steady BarrelBarrel MODSuperior provides greatly increased stability, ready speed, and accuracy while moving—a workable substitute that maintains the engine's core identity while reducing the faction grind.
RANKED PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS
In Squad Ranked, this Destroyer build fills the anchor role that turns good teams into great ones. Your job isn't chasing Holotags—it's controlling space so your AssassinStealth and ThiefStealth teammates can execute their plays safely. The Impact Siphons engine shines during Holotag defense scenarios where enemies must come to you. Plant yourself on a Holotag site with Riot Barricade deployed, and watch opposing teams burn resources trying to dislodge you.
Solo Ranked presents more challenges. Destroyer's B-tier solo rating reflects the shell's team-oriented design, and this build doesn't change that fundamental limitation. However, the sustain engine gives you better tools for third-party situations. When multiple teams converge on your position, Impact Siphons lets you absorb punishment from multiple angles while your LMG suppresses anyone trying to push. You won't outrun bad positioning, but you can outlast it.
The current Season 2 meta favors sustained engagements over burst trades, playing directly into this build's strengths. Zone events like Lockdowns create extended combat scenarios where your resource generation engine has time to spin up. Warden encounters reward durability over mobility—exactly what Impact Siphons provides.
